Dorothea Meyer
Dorothea Meyer studied industrial engineering in agribusiness (B.Eng.) with a focus on livestock farming at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and subsequently completed a master's degree in agricultural sciences (M.Sc.) in Göttingen. She gained an overview of the structures along the agricultural value chain through various activities during her studies. She is particularly interested in the challenges and opportunities of agriculture in the area of conflict between social expectations, political framework conditions and practical feasibility. Parallel to her Master's degree and doctorate, she worked as a research assistant for the forestry and agricultural policy spokesperson of the FDP parliamentary group and parliamentary group spokesperson for agricultural and food policy. She holds a doctoral scholarship from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. In her doctoral thesis, she is investigating how consumers perceive the environmental friendliness of domestic and imported food. She is investigating how these perceptions relate to purchasing behavior in the supermarket and political debates in the European single market and what conclusions can be drawn from this for the marketing of agricultural products. She joined the team as a doctoral student in December 2022.
