Prof Dr Birgitt Riegraf
Prof Dr Birgitt Riegraf (she/her), born in 1961, studied political science, sociology, psychology and religious studies as well as the interdisciplinary supplementary course ‘Qualitative Methods in the Social Sciences’ at the Free University of Berlin. She gained her doctorate in 1995 at the Free University of Berlin and habilitated in 2004 at the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University. After guest and deputy professorships at the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig and the Georg-August University Göttingen, she has been Professor of General Sociology at the University of Paderborn since 2009. She has been President of Paderborn University since April 2018.
Her areas of work and research include science and higher education studies, sociological theory and gender studies, the sociology of inequality and intersectionality research, method and methodology and the sociology of the state, work and organisation.
